Aston Martin Vanquish S 2+2 Coupe

The Aston Martin Vanquish was launched at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show and would be the last production Aston Martin to be built at the iconic Newport Pagnell factory. Designed by Ian Callum, the Vanquish took many of its design cues from the DB7 and Project Vantage concept car. The Vanquish was the first Aston Martin to utilise the all new VH body tub platform chassis made from extruded aluminium and carbon fibre. This extremely ridged platform was then clothed in hand finished superformed aluminium body panels. Powered by a V12 engine delivering its power through a 6-speed manual gearbox controlled by an electro hydraulic paddle shift system.  The Vanquish went on to feature in the James Bond film Die Another day continuing Aston’s association with James Bond franchise.

In 2004 Aston Martin launched the Vanquish S model which featured a more powerful version of the V12 engine. Power increased from 460 to 520bhp which in turn propelled the car from rest to 60mph in just 4.8 seconds and onto a claimed top speed of 200mph. Visual changes include new wheels, a slightly different nose shape, a new raised boot lid incorporating a high-level brake light. In total Aston Martin produced 1,086 Vanquish S models with the last rolling off the production line on 19th July 2007 coinciding with the closing of the company’s Newport Pagnell factory after 49 years of production.
