Audi RS4 Avant (B7)

The second generation of the hugely successful Audi RS4 was unveiled in February 2005 at Audi’s ‘Quattro Night’ celebration at the company headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany. The RS4 B7 is an almost complete departure from previous Audi “RS” cars, as it was initially available as a four-door saloon with a five-door Avant (estate), and two-door Cabriolet versions arriving later. Constructed from fully galvanised steel in a monocoque design, the RS4 used lightweight aluminium for its front wings and bonnet. The engine in the B7 is an all alloy 4.2 V8 FSI “Fuel Stratified Injection” normally aspirated unit, designed to deliver low down torque and be equally happy at the higher end of the rev range. This impressive power plant produces 414 bhp which is enough to propel the RS4 from 0-62 mph in just 4.8 seconds and on to a top speed of an electronically limited 155 mph. The same engine base was used for the Audi R8 when Audi wanted to build their first Supercar.

The Audi RS4 Avant offered here at Autostorico is a 2006 ’56 plate’ which has covered just 62,165 miles.
