Ferrari Testarossa Monospecchio

Ferrari’s flagship model, the Testarossa supercar was launched to the public at the 1984 Paris motorshow. The Testarossa name payed homage to 1957 sportscar the 250 Testa Rossa, which had won the world sportscar championship. Testa Rossa, which literally means ‘red head’ in Italian, refers to the red painted cam covers sported by both cars 12-cylinder engine.

Rivalling Lamborghini’s Countach in apperance, the Pininfarina designed Tesatrossa succeeded brilliantly. The gill slats feeding air to its side mounted radiators make it instantly recognisable. A ‘next generation’ Berlinetta Boxer, the Testarossa retained its predecessors rear-mid engined 5.0 litre, flat 12 cylinder which produced 380bhp. This propelled the car from 0-60mph in just 5.2 secs and onto a top speed of 180mph.
