MG TD

The MG TD was launched in January 1950 as the replacement for the MG TC. Introduced as the first post-war MG, the TD combined the TC’s drivetrain and included a hypoid-geared rear axle, shortened TC chassis with full independent suspension, new rack and pinion steering, resulting in much improved handling. Powered by a 1250cc engine the TD boasted a top speed of 77mph and could accelerate from 0-60mph in just under 20 secs.

The MG TD chassis no: TD8992 offered here at Autostorcio is a 1951 example built for the North American market. Finished in Red with Beige Rexine and Leather interior with Beige hood.  Having remained in America until 1991 the car returned to UK shores where it underwent a full body-off, no expense spared, restoration including converting to RHD drive. Works included full chassis shot blast and re-paint, bodywork prepared for a bare metal respray, suspension and running gear overhaul replacing parts where necessary, engine rebuild, full re-wire, re-trimmed interior and chrome replaced.

Having covered a mere 5937 miles since restoration this stunning example offers the perfect opportunity to own a very usable British classic car.

Offered for sale with a current V5 registration document along with a comprehensive history file containing numerous invoices and other related material.
