Mini 1275 MKII Roadster

Few automobiles embody the spirit of British motoring quite like the Mini  an enduring symbol of innovation, charm, and design brilliance. Conceived in response to the 1957 Suez oil crisis as a practical yet stylish solution to motoring austerity, the Mini’s 1959 debut marked a true revolution in automotive engineering. Its transversely mounted engine and gearbox-in-sump configuration driving the front wheels was nothing short of pioneering, allowing remarkable space efficiency within a diminutive ten-foot frame. The result was a car that offered practicality, personality, and agility in equal measure  instantly captivating pop icons, celebrities, and motoring enthusiasts the world over.

As the Mini’s popularity grew, so too did the appetite for exclusivity. Bespoke coachbuilders and tuning houses soon began crafting limited-production variants, including the highly desirable Roadster body style  offering open-top motoring with unmistakable Mini character.

Autostorico is delighted to offer this exceptional 1986 Mini 1275 MKII Roadster, a left-hand drive example finished in elegant Sea Blue with a beautifully appointed Black leather interior. Originally supplied to Milan, Italy, this car was acquired by its current owner  a passionate and knowledgeable collector  in 2004. For over a decade, it enjoyed life at his residence in the South of France, returning to the UK annually for servicing and maintenance.

In 2015, the Mini underwent a comprehensive, no-expense-spared restoration, carried out to an exceptional standard. The works included the installation of a freshly built, tuned 1275cc engine featuring twin SU carburettors, along with a complete suspension rebuild, new wiring loom, brake system overhaul, and the addition of a lightweight aluminium radiator with electric cooling fan. A Cherry Bomb exhaust system and new tonneau cover complete the package, delivering a wonderfully balanced blend of refinement and spirited performance.

Presented in superb condition throughout, this charming Mini is accompanied by a comprehensive history file containing numerous invoices, a current V5 registration document, and will be supplied with a fresh MOT at the point of sale.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire an expertly restored and beautifully maintained example of one of Britain’s most beloved motoring icons. Stylish, nimble, and eminently collectible, the Mini 1275 MKII Roadster remains a timeless classic that continues to deliver both driving pleasure and investment potential.
